Thanksgiving Feast

Swimming Hole, originally uploaded by MontanaRaven.
Though it won't look exactly like this because I shot this photo in the summer, this is close to where we are hoping to spend Thanksgiving day. this is the swimming hole. I don't think we'll be swimming, but you never know. Someone might get brave enough to break the ice! brrrr.

So, anyway, we're sharing a Thanksgiving feast with some family and friends the day after Thanksgiving. It will be a rustic gathering -- sleepover Friday late afternoon to sometime on Saturday. if you want to stay overnight, just bring a bag and pad. We'll provide the floor, woodstove, food and an outdoor fire in the night, weather-permitting ... and if you have a musical instrument, please bring it. Homemade music is always fun.

Call or email for directions. if you're friends with Gabe or Mick, you know the numbers.

We have many swimming holes like this where I live, they are enchanted places. Your photo is beautiful, I like the light.

thank you, Pam... it's hard to tell where the swimming hole is deep enough to dive into in this photo -- it's mostly just out of the photo frame in the foreground. Depends on the time of year -- in late summer I wouldn't dive in, but might jump feet first. Mostly we just walk in from the cobbled beach, yelling and gasping with the cold.

This elbow bend of the river will look totally different when we go up there this week - it will probably be frozen, covered with snow -- or at least will have crisp lacy edges of ice along the shoreline.

There is something extraordinarily beautiful and delicate about the first lacy edges of ice...I know what you mean.

wish i could take some photos and post them after the weekend up there. I don't even have a way to download them off of my camera, even if the camera were working properly. oh well ...
